That's What I'm Talking About...Guest Post

Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a lovely holiday and welcome back to the world f books! I can't wait to buy more books with my new Barnes & Noble gift card - big thanks to my mother-in-law.
Well, today I'm over at That's What I'm Talking About... sharing a complete chapter from my upcoming release, Caressed by a Crimson Moon (Rulers of Darkness #3).

If you would like to read the chapter, head over to That's What I'm Talking About...

Here is a peak:

Eva groaned when the clock on the mantle elegantly chimed three. She slid from the bed and began to pace the room again. She could not stop thinking about her encounter with the king. He was a powerful, mysterious, and all together lethal vampire, terrifying and undeniably sexy. She was struggling to find a logical explanation to her reaction but came up with nothing. With a sigh, she acknowledged that her confinement was not helping her bewildering thoughts and restlessness.

Review of Home for the Holiday

Amazon       Barnes & Noble
Home for the Holiday
by Johanna Lindsey
3.5 Stars of  5

Description:
Left to handle the rumors of her family's bankruptcy and impending eviction, Larissa Ascot's wishes for a merry Christmas seem to be in peril for the first time in her sheltered life. A charming would-be "benefactor," Vincent Everett, the Baron of Windsmoor, has offered to shelter Larissa and her young brother. But more than Yuletide spirit seems to have inspired the baron's generosity. From the moment he first set eyes on Larissa, the highborn rogue was bewitched. And now that she has taken up residence in his home, he aches with wanting her --- a most unfortunate state of affairs, since the proud beauty obviously despises him ... and since Vincent has sworn to seek a righteous vengeance on the Ascot family.
But Christmas is a time of miracles, after all. And even two rival souls can be touched by the spirit of forgiveness in these magical days --- and showered with precious gifts of tenderness, love, and ecstasy unbound.

Review:

This is a lovely read for the holiday season. Grab a cup of coffee and snuggle up with this historical romance.

4.5 Stars of 5

A heartwarming Christmas romance from a beloved New York Times bestselling author!

But when he learns that the lovely widow tricked him in order to effect a holiday reconciliation, he refuses to stay—unless she meets his “terms.” Somewhere between trying to seduce the beautiful Camilla and struggling with the cruel memories of his childhood Christmases, Pierce discovers that not only does forgiveness go two ways, but that love can blossom even in the coldest of winters.

Review:

I have read every book within the Hellions of Halstead Hall series and this one did not disappoint. 'Twas the Night After Christmas such a sweet, holiday read.
The leading man, Pierce Waverly, the Earl of Devonmont, is a tortured soul, which is my favorite kind of hero.

This Tuesday, I would like to share a little teasingly romantic clip from my upcoming release, Caressed by a Crimson Moon (Rulers of Darkness #3).

~ Delicious tension coiled through her and gathered at her center. She could sense his resolve weakening and she eagerly rubbed against him, her fingers ran up from his wrists, over the roped muscle of his arms, to his wide shoulders.

Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1) Review

Latest Review for Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1)
Thank you to FranJessca from Book Lovin' Mamas for her review.

"[...] I could go on and on about the book, but I do not want to give away too much.  It had a lot going on in it and it definitely flowed very well.  Let's just say I did not always get my priorities straight when it came to college homework or reading.  Sometimes "Caressed by Moonlight" won over writing up a essay.  What can I say...I love a book that has a strong male character and even stronger female character[...]"

Review of A Lady Never Surrenders (Hellions of Halstead Hall #5)

Amazon        B&N
A Lady Never Surrenders (Hellions of Halstead Hall #5)
by Sabrina Jeffrues
3.5 of 5 Stars

Description:

Lady Celia Sharpe hopes that if she can garner offers of marriage from several eligible gentlemen and show her grandmother she is capable of gaining a husband, she can convince Gran to rescind the marriage ultimatum for her. And if that plan doesn’t work, at least she’ll have a husband lined up. But Bow Street Runner Jackson Pinter seems determined to ruin her plans by disapproving of every suitor she asks him to investigate. It’s only when she and Jackson work together to solve her parents’ murders, plunging them both into danger, that she realizes why--because the only man he wants her to marry is himself!
(From Goodreads)

Review:

Lady Celia is the youngest of the Sharpe siblings and the last to find a spouse. Her family, mainly her grandmother, believes she is not marriageable material- it is not fashionable for a lady to know her mind, be outspoken, stubborn, or shoot better than any gentlemen in the ton.

Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father's enemies, her heartache has turned to fury -- but her desire for him has not waned.

In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man -- and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned...or enflame a love that never died.
(From Amazon)

Review:
I had read book three first, then read one, and have recently finished two. I have a little bit of a problem, I rarely start a series with the first book. Most of the time I'm so intrigued by the back cover description that I don't notice the book belongs in a series. That said, I really enjoyed this book and, luckily for me, each book could be a stand alone.

Review of The Bodyguards' Princess

Kindle
The Bodyguards' Princess
by Ann Mayburn
3.5 of 5 Starts

Description:
Lalita Chetana, daughter of a United Nations Diplomat, survives an attempted kidnapping by a terrorist group known as the anarchists. She has a difficult time with her recovery, and her father hires two bodyguards, ex-Marines Asher Epson and Kent Warne, to keep her safe and give her time to heal. Unfortunately, even their skills can't save her from an enemy determined to destroy her.

Hypnotized into stealing UN secrets, she is framed by the anarchists. As part of their plan to humiliate and break her father, they plant a hypnotic trigger that anytime she hears the word “bitch” she will become aroused to the point of pain. She is forced to flee and go into hiding with Asher and Kent. The men become unable to hide their real feelings for her after her trigger is hit and they have to relieve her of her sexual torment.

Warning: This book contains hot, dominant men who will do anything to please their lady including light bondage, spanking, public caning, and decadent ménages.

Review:
The Bodyguards’ Princess is a unique story filled with suspense: terrorism, fugitives, hypnotism, and near death experiences. These aspects combined with the pure hotness of the main characters are wonderfully entertaining.

Review of How to Woo a Reluctant Lady (Hellions of Halstead Hall, #3)

How to Woo a Reluctant Lady (The Hellions of Halstead Hall, #3)
by Sabrina Jeffries
4 of 5 Stars

Description:
Amazon              Barnes & Noble
The third novel in Sabrina Jeffries's “Hellions of Hallstead Hall” series, featuring the independent and talented Lady Minerva Sharpe.

When a charming rogue proposes she marry him to meet her grandmother's ultimatum, the Sharpe clan's strong-willed sister makes a tempting counter-offer that preserves her inheritance and ignites his imagination.

Lady Minerva Sharpe has the perfect plan to thwart her grandmother's demands: become engaged to a rogue! Surely Gran would rather release her inheritance than see her wed a scoundrel. And who better to play the part of Minerva's would-be husband than wild barrister Giles Masters, the very inspiration for the handsome spy in the popular Gothic novels she writes? The memory of his passionate kiss on her nineteenth birthday has lingered in Minerva's imagination, though she has no intention of really falling for such a rakehell, much less marrying him. Little does she know, he really is a covert government operative. When they team up to investigate the mystery behind her parents' deaths, their fake betrothal leads to red-hot desire. Then Minerva discovers Giles's secret double life, and he must use all the cunning tricks of his trade to find his way back into her heart.

Review:
This series is so much fun!
Lady Minerva is not interested in marriage, unfortunately, her grandmother is forcing her (along with the rest of her siblings) to marry on pain of  disinheritance.
She is completely caught off guard when Giles Masters, a long time friend of the family, proposes marriage.

Review of Be Still My Heart (Vampire Assassin League #2)

Be Still My Heart (Vampire Assassin League #2)
by Jackie Ivie
Barnes & Noble       Amazon
4 of 5 Stars

Description:

THE VAMP
Vampire Sasha Stroyanovich is pure killing machine. Long-legged, lean, smoky-eyed, and sexy. Torture's her specialty. Revenge her signature. Every man is her enemy… until she tries to take the man fated as her mate.
THE MARK
Dr. Stuart Emerson Findlay is tall, dark, handsome, rich… and a complete failure with women. He loves argument, hates commitment and refuses his ADHD meds; anal retentive doesn't begin to describe him. Maybe that's why women walk away. Maybe.
THE DREAM
When the perfect woman walks into his office, Stuart's a willing participant. It's his dream and he's having the time of his life. Until it becomes real…
(From Goodreads)

Review:

After reading the first book I was intrigued and had to find out what this series was all about. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed Be Still My Heart more than Knight After Night (the first book).
The main characters: Sasha Stroyanovich and Dr. Stuart Emerson Findlay. They were delightful!

Review of Knight After Night (Vampire Assassin League #1)

Knight After Night (Vampire Assassin League #1)
by Jackie Ivie
3.5 of 5 Stars

Description:

THE VAMPIRE
Highland Vampire Thoran MacKettryck's lonely. Bitter. Vengeful. For centuries now, he's taken lives for profit and drained blood for free. Just like always. But then he's gifted what every immortal craves: his mate. He just can't believe his eyes when he finally hunts her down.
HIS MATE
Jolie Pritchard's young. Studious. Driven. Studying Medieval Literature is her life and this scholarship - her dream. She's the last thing an arrogant, gorgeous, world-class playboy should be pursuing and she knows it. If only he wasn't the most thrilling male she's ever imagined...
THE CURSE
She was warned. She didn't listen.

Review:

This was an entertaining read. The beginning really caught me, the library scene where/when the main characters meet was fun, lighthearted, and I must say, I quickly fell for Thoran.

18 & Over Blogger Follower # 16

18 and Over Blogger Follow Hop is hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines. This hop runs through the weekend. Have a blog that reviews and features mainly 18+ books and want to join? Head over to Reading Between the Wines.

Question of the week: Do you have a formula or outline that you follow while writing reviews?

I wouldn't say I have a formula or an outline for writing my reviews. I keep my reviews short, not wanting to give too much away. Generally, I say what I like and don't like about the main characters, address the plot, relationship between the characters, and world-building. Really, I write whatever comes to my mind, without going too into detail. My goal is to give my opinions and share my thoughts but I don't want to ruin the book for anyone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Now, how do you write your reviews?

Review of Tranquility (Otherkin, #2)

Tranquility (Otherkin, #2)
by Anya Bast
.99 cents on Kindle & FREE on Nook
3.5 of 5 Stars

Description:

Roane leaves the Fury werewolf pack to make room for his brother, Merrick, and his new mate. A natural alpha, there's nowhere Roane can go in wolf country and not stir up trouble. He settles in a town called Tranquility and immediately raises the hackles of the local pack leader.

Even worse, Roane gets one look at Scarlet, the pack leader's sister, and will do anything to possess her. Scarlet tries to resist him, but his touch inflames desire she can barely control. And that means heaps of trouble for both of them.

This short story is a free title, offered by New York Times bestselling author, Anya Bast. Tranquility is part two of a two part series. Fury is the title of part one. These titles are highly erotic and meant for those 18 years or older.

Review:

After reading the first book, I really wanted to know what would happen with Roane. I was pleased to find that I liked him more than his brother, Merrick, the hero of the first book.
The fact that the two stars are werewolves caught my attention right away since I'm a sucker for paranormal romance.
